Lord's of the Ro'Lok'Alypse: Round One

Good Afternoon Wonderful internet People!

Ro’Lok’s Guide to Violence is chugging along and we’re excited to see how far we can take this book. As always we ask that you share our project on social media to help us reach even more wonderful internet people such as yourselves.

But today we wanted to make you all aware of a very special event taking place in celebration of Ro’Lok’s Guide to Violence. LUD and Gemhammer are partnering to bring you Lord’s of the Ro’Lok’Alypse, an Epic Tournament of Legends.

Lords of Ro’Lok’Alypse will be a multi-week RPG livestream tournament. 4 teams will go head to head to see who gets to be crowned lords of Ro’Lok’Alypse by the god of violence himself. Two teams will face off against each other to see who progresses. After each round you’ll get the vance for each teams MVP. The MVP’s of winning teams will be granted boons from Ro’Lok’s Guide to Violence to aid them in the next round. Additionally, the MVP’s of each team’s last round will be invited back for a special one shot.

But this isn’t just some a series of live streams. This tournament will have real implications for the book. The winners will have artifacts named after them and added to the ever growing list of magic items in Ro’Lok’s Guide to violence. In addition, the MVP’s will also have magic items named after their characters added to the book. These magic items will be in addition to the 100+ magic items in the core book and the additional magic items unlocked via stretch goals.

Stretch Goal Unlock: Primal Arms

Congratulations! We've unlocked a new Stretch Goal. Primal Weapons and Armor categories have been added to Ro'Lok's Guide to Violence, along with feats and backgrounds that grant proficiency in this new equipment.

Good Afternoon Wonderful Internet People!

The first week of the Kickstarter is behind us, we're funded, we've knocked out some stretch goals and we're moving right along. We have slowed down a bit in the last few days, but this is to be expected in most Kickstarter campaigns. All in all, Ro'Lok's Guide to Violence is keeping pace with the Grimoire, and we're excited to start hitting some of the bigger stretch goals over the next 3 weeks. Listed below are the stretch goals we've hit thus far.

Thanks to these stretch goals, there will now be a total of 25 new backgrounds, 50 trinkets, 40 new crafting materials, and 110 new magic items included in Ro'Lok's Guide to Violence. Our next set of stretch goals will be where we get into the real meat and potatoes of the book. 

Weapon Categories

While I'm sure you'll all familiar with simple and martial weapons, Ro'Lok's Guide to violence features a new category of weapons called Exotic Weapons, which require Exotic Weapon Proficiency to use. However Primal, Advanced, and Ascendant weapons are also weapon categories which will become available is stretch goals are unlocked. With each category of weapon unlocked, you'll also unlock additional backgrounds and feats that provide proficiency in these weapons. Later down the line, complete training will allow characters to spec into these weapons as well. (more on that in a future update). The new weapon categories will also interact with our new crafting materials in interesting ways, as any of these new weapon types can be forged from the new materials for an additional cost.

Subclasses and Character Options

Ro'Lok's Guide to Violence core book features 8 new classes, each with their own subclass, as well as new a subclass for the Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, and Rogue Subclasses. With each subclass surge you'll unlock a new subclass for both one of the new classes, as well as a classic class. However, clerics will have their subclasses available from the start, and wont be unlocked via stretch goals. We haven't previously mentioned clerics as we didn't plan to do them. But Ro'Lok is a god, and therefore needs holy (holy?) people to spread his good (good?) word to the people of the multiverse, so the Divine Domains of Violence and Vorpal will be available in the core book. Additionally, we have several new prestige classes coming down the road, which will give your players new and interesting ways to build their characters. (more on that at a later date)

Vehicle Construction and Big Vehicle Combat

War machines and vehicles of all kinds will be featured in Ro'Lok's Guide, including war wagons, balloons, tanks, siege engines, and much more. But new rules, costs and equipment for building, maintaining and modding said vehicles will be unlocked via stretch goals. In addition, huge and gargantuan vehicles will be made available as a separate feature. While any group of adventurers will make good use of these fantastic vehicles, the Road Warrior class, certain builds of Warlords, Land Strider Rangers, as well as the Sentai and Mech Pilot prestige classes will bring out the full potential of these mechanical monstrosities.

And More!

Of course there are many more stretch goals to discuss, including magical warfare, combat factions and adventuring in Ro'Lok'Alypse. but these can wait for a later date. For now we're eager to push through this next set of stretch goals and move closer to building the best possible version of Ro'Lok's Guide to Violence that we possibly can. Of course we ask that you please help us build momentum by sharing our project with your friends and fellow gamers, as well as telling your friendly local game stores about our fantastic retail options (with free shipping) to help knock these goals out even faster. But more importantly, we wanted to make you aware that we are making some of the content from Ro'Lok's Guide to Violence available early for our patrons over on patereon. Today we introduced our patrons over at Patreon to our new community manager Molly Hunter, who is also one of our contributors on this project and illustrated the 4 magic items we're making available to our patrons.

"Hey there! I'm Molly Hunter, originally an illustrator for Gemhammer, but now community manager for the patreon. I'll be with you all along the way to draw, write, and share with you what Gemhammer has in store for the future — awesome things are coming, and we hope to update you all accordingly!"

Molly has been one of our contributors for the last year, and has joined our team to bring some much needed attention to our Patreon. Unfortunately, our small team hasn’t been able to give our patrons the attention they so very much deserve, but it is our hope that with Molly’s help we can begin rolling out regular and consistent content to those who’ve been so very generous to us over the last year.

As both a small thank you, and as a sign of things to come, we provided our patrons a short PDF of 4 magic items taken from the pages of Ro’Lok’s Guide to Violence.
